Address: Strandvägen, 352 34 VÄXJÖ
In Växjösjön, which lies really close to the center of the city, there are often buoys in the water for swimming. These usually have 200 meters between them. You can jump in either at Kampa pelare or at the lagoon in Strandbjörket. This really is outdoor life with the city around the corner. Växjösjön is almost totally free of boat traffic.
If you like swim run and want to practice both running and swimming in a combination, Växjösjön and Trummen are perfect. Running tracks with one or several kilometers can easily be combined with swimming. Both lakes have good places to get in and out of the water. You can run Växjöåttan and take swims. However, if you are swimming without shoes, please be careful when you get in and out of the water; watch out for sharp objects.
The bathing season in Sweden may be short, but the season for swimming on open waters is longer. In a wetsuit in a short or long model, you can exercise in the lakes in Växjö from May to September. It is a lovely sense of freedom to leave the bottom-lines of the swimmingpools and swim in freshwater.
Remember: It is important NOT TO SWIM ALONE. Bring a friend who can join you so you can help each other if anything would happen. If you cannot have someone with you in the water, then have someone sitting on the beach as a bathing guard, to whom you can signal if there is a problem. Inform someone that you are going swimming and how long. If you wear a swimming cap in a bright color, it is easier to spot you.
