The nature reserve Hissö with its walking paths is also perfect for swim run practice.

The nature reserve Hissö has a lot of paths close to the lake which makes it suitable for swim run. It is easy to get in and out of the water on different locations and run between the bathing places. If you want to swim in open water without running, a start at the bathing place for dogs is recommended. Head for the island Musön and swim in north-east direction.

It is about 300 meter long and you can swim back and forth, pausing for breathing on the shores. Take a couple of steps in easter direction on Musön, and you find a just as nice swim tour to the barbecue place and the small beach on the north-east side of Hissön. That swim tour is about 250 meters. There are very few boats around Hissö and Musön.

The bathing season in Sweden may be short, but the season for swimming on open waters is longer. In a wetsuit in a short or long model, you can exercise in the lakes in Växjö from May to September. It is a lovely sense of freedom to leave the bottom-lines of the swimmingpools and swim in freshwater.

Remember: It is important NOT TO SWIM ALONE. Bring a friend who can join you so you can help each other if anything would happen. If you cannot have someone with you in the water, then have someone sitting on the beach as a bathing guard, to whom you can signal if there is a problem. Inform someone that you are going swimming and how long. If you wear a swimming cap in a bright color, it is easier to spot you.
