An arboretum in honor of Linné.

An arboretum in honor of Linné. A collection of trees and bushes is called an arboretum, which is exactly what Linné's arboretum is. It is situated in the southern part of Växjö in the city district Teleborg in the forest Teleborgsskogen. The area was planted after the storm Gudrun had windthrown most of the trees. Therefore, 10 000 plants from 150 species were planted here in 2007, in a collaboration with the University of Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp. A lot of students come here to study the trees. The plants in the arboretum are from different places around the world. From North America, you can find northern red oak and red maple. The Austrian Oak comes from the southern part of Europe and the Swiss pine comes from the Alps. The tree North Japanese hill cherry comes from Asia. Additionally, there are birds in the area, such as Eurasian nuthatch, wood pigeon, European Robin, Eurasian Siskin and chiffchaff.

There is also an information center in Linné's arboretum. Furthermore, there is a 2 kilometer long illuminated running track in the forest. You can barbecue on two spots in the forest and there is a fenced resting place for your dog.
