Smålands museum is the oldest county museum in Sweden. Permanent exhibitions with objects from different periods and temporary exhibitions with different emphases. There is also Sweden's glass museum and an archaeological unit.

Smålands Museum opened in its own building in 1885. In the permanent exhibitions are everything from Neolithic objects displayed, a silver treasure from the Viking Age, objects from the 1800 and 1900 numbers Småland peasant and upper-class communities to the opera singer Christina Nilsson's emerald jewelry .
Småland Museum has an extensive temporary exhibitions covering topics from photography, visual arts, textiles and furniture .
The swedish Glass Museum shows the glass magical world from different eras.
The archaeological unit carries out archaeological mission and conveys knowledge of Småland's history. The museum building antiquarians provides among other advice for the restoration and renovations of historically valuable buildings.
