Address: Linnéparken, 351 12 VÄXJÖ
Linnéparken is in the middle of town by the cathedral, opening out onto the lake. Carl Linnaeus is the theme of the park, in which you will find a garden following Linnaeus’s sexual system, a flowerbed for the senses, a cactus garden and beautiful flower gardens.
The cactus garden has been in the park since the 1920’s. Each year it is given a new, topical theme.
The park, framed by ancient lime avenues, is divided into three sections: the formal cathedral area, the English park with winding paths and tall trees, and the newer section with open grassed areas, play area, water features and an outdoor stage.
In the park you find Karolinerhuset, completed in 1715, housing Växjö’s upper secondary school until the 1850’s. Carl Linnaeus was a student at the school.
There is also a play ground with inspiration from Linné.
