The lofty copper clad twin spires of the cathedral give Växjö a very special profile.

The cathedral dates back to the late 12th century. Here you will find beautiful works of art in, for example, glass. The cathedral is connected to Saint Sigfrid who christened the locals in the area during the 11th century, and the cathedral was also built during this period. However, it has been rebuilt several times, due to for example fires.
Apart from works of art in glass, there are also works of art in wood and iron, including Bertil Vallien's glass alter piece. You can also find a tree with candles, two baptismal funds and the old altarpiece. A Viking rune stone from the 12th century can also be seen adjacent to the cathedral's eastern wall.
When it comes to music, concerts in different genres often take place in the cathedral, and the services often include some kind of music. There are three organs in the cathedral, from the 18th, 19th and 20th century.
The cathedral is located close to the shores of Lake Växjö in the middle of the Linnaeus Park.
